Washington native Wendy Gilles has spent the last seventeen years in New York thoroughly enjoying singing for her supper. Her “sweet, declarative voice” and “infectious performances” on the Gil Evans Project’s two GRAMMY Award-nominated albums were roundly praised by critics. Wendy has performed as a leader or featured jazz vocalist at Birdland, Dizzy’s Club, Zankel Hall, Jazz Standard, Cornelia Street Cafe, 55 Bar, and in many great concert venues nationally.

Wendy also enjoys fine ensemble singing with The Clarion Choir, Musica Sacra, Voices of Ascension, Sacred Music in a Sacred Space, American Classical Orchestra Chorus, Essential Voices USA, and Concert Chorale of New York, performing masterworks under the direction of such luminaries as Harry Bicket, Jaap Van Zweden, Alan Gilbert, Gustavo Dudamel, Zubin Mehta, and Michael Tilson Thomas. A recent highlight was recording and touring Handel’s Solomon with the Clarion Choir and The English Concert in London, Madrid, and California. On weekends, Wendy can be heard singing in the professional choirs of St. Bartholomew’s Church and Temple Emanu-El synagogue.
